Dubai, a city celebrated for its pioneering skyline and architectural feats, is set to unveil its latest marvel — the Muraba Veil, a skyscraper that’s redefining the city’s architectural landscape not for its towering height, but for its sheer elegance and unprecedented slenderness. With its daring and unconventional design, the Muraba Veil is poised to become a defining landmark in Dubai’s ever-growing urban fabric, a symbol of innovation and cultural homage.
At 380 meters tall, the Muraba Veil will be one of Dubai’s most impressive skyscrapers, not because of its height alone, but due to its extraordinary slenderness. The tower will be just one apartment wide, a unique architectural feat that makes it one of the narrowest skyscrapers ever constructed in the world. Its presence on Sheikh Zayed Road, alongside the Dubai Canal, will add to the already iconic skyline, yet it promises to stand out not by dominating the landscape but by captivating with its elegant proportions and minimalist design.
The Muraba Veil’s width of just 22.5 meters challenges the conventional norms of skyscraper architecture, where buildings are typically designed to make the most of their footprints by expanding upwards and outwards. Instead, this project has chosen a different path, making a bold statement by turning the skyscraper into a work of art in urban minimalism.
“Awe-inspiring yet understated, Muraba Veil rises from the dunes above the UAE’s most cosmopolitan and future-facing city, presenting a daring, stop-you-in-your-tracks spectacle,” shared the design team behind the project. This vision perfectly encapsulates the building’s essence: a blend of subtle sophistication and urban grandeur, creating a monument that speaks volumes without overwhelming its surroundings.
The Muraba Veil has been designed by the internationally renowned and Pritzker Prize-winning Spanish architectural studio, RCR Arquitectes, known for their groundbreaking works that integrate buildings with their natural surroundings. Their work on Muraba Veil is no exception — the slender design and the building’s sleek lines are meant to reflect and respond to the natural and urban landscapes of Dubai, bringing an elegant new dimension to the city’s skyline.
The 73-storey tower will house 131 apartments, each uniquely designed to span the entire width of the building, ensuring every residence offers unobstructed panoramic views. These views will stretch across both sides of the tower, providing breathtaking vistas of the Dubai Canal, Sheikh Zayed Road, and the wider cityscape. Residents will not only be able to see Dubai’s iconic urban skyline but also enjoy views of the surrounding natural environment — the perfect combination of urban and serene living.
Each apartment in Muraba Veil will offer a blend of luxury, tranquility, and exclusivity, designed to cater to the modern resident who seeks both high-end living and a calming refuge from the city’s bustling energy. With floor-to-ceiling windows, spacious layouts, and the finest materials and finishes, the apartments will exude sophistication, elegance, and comfort. The design of the interiors reflects the sleek and contemporary aesthetic of the building’s exterior, with attention to detail and a sense of serenity in every aspect.
But Muraba Veil is much more than just a collection of luxury apartments. Its amenities will take residents’ experiences to the next level, offering an array of high-end facilities that rival those of the world’s most exclusive resorts. The tower will boast a spa, where residents can relax and rejuvenate, a fine dining restaurant offering world-class cuisine, an art gallery showcasing global and local masterpieces, and even a private cinema for a truly luxurious movie-watching experience. For those who enjoy staying active, there will be a padel court, along with a fitness center and other recreational facilities.
What truly sets the Muraba Veil apart, however, is its unique architectural feature: a stainless steel “veil” that envelops the structure. This modern design element gives the tower its sleek, minimalist aesthetic, while also serving a functional purpose by providing shade and reducing the building’s solar gain. The veil adds a layer of privacy for the residents while maintaining the openness of the views. It reflects Dubai’s commitment to sustainable architecture and integrating modern solutions into the urban environment.
The design of Muraba Veil is deeply rooted in the cultural heritage of the UAE. The building’s apartments are inspired by traditional Arab homes, where life often revolves around an internal courtyard. In Muraba Veil, the apartments are arranged around a serene internal courtyard, offering a private, tranquil environment in the heart of a bustling city. This thoughtful design not only reflects the cultural traditions of the UAE but also creates a sense of calm and serenity for the residents.
“This is more than a beautiful residence,” shared Ibrahim Al Ghurair, Managing Director of Muraba. “What we set out to achieve is a life-enhancing work of architecture that reflects the heritage of the UAE’s built environment. We want Muraba Veil to embody serenity, the same calm you feel when you enter the courtyard of an Arabic home.”
The Muraba Veil marks the fifth collaboration between Muraba and RCR Arquitectes, underscoring a decade-long partnership dedicated to creating architectural masterpieces that harmonize with their surroundings. “We are passionate about ensuring our buildings respond to their place and belong to the native landscape,” said Rafael Aranda, founder of RCR Arquitectes. Their shared vision of creating architecture that not only enhances the urban environment but also connects with the natural landscape is evident in every detail of Muraba Veil’s design.
As Dubai continues to evolve into a hub of modern architecture, innovation, and cultural heritage, the Muraba Veil stands as a testament to the city’s commitment to pushing boundaries and redefining what’s possible in urban living. With its innovative design, luxurious amenities, and cultural significance, the Muraba Veil is set to become a landmark that represents the future of Dubai’s skyline and the next chapter in its architectural narrative.
