Expo City Dubai has become the first in the UAE to adopt RICS's carbon framework. Ahmed Al Khatib emphasized the city’s pivotal role in Dubai’s long-term prosperity, stating, “We have always been committed to addressing this need responsibly, with a decarbonization roadmap and sustainability initiatives that prioritize working with the environment, not against it. Our partnership with RICS strengthens this commitment, and the training and development opportunities reinforce the importance of knowledge-sharing for the benefit of the entire built environment sector in the UAE, supporting the nation’s journey to net zero by 2050.”
Tina Paillet, President of RICS, expressed her pride in the partnership, recalling her involvement during COP28 last year, when she met Expo City Dubai’s leadership as part of the RICS delegation. “This agreement highlights the growing collaboration between RICS, as a global professional body, and Expo City Dubai, as a world-leading development. Together, we aim to serve as a model for advanced sustainability practices and technologies within the built environment. It is rewarding to witness this partnership come to fruition during my presidency.”
Named as one of the five hubs in the 2040 Dubai Urban Master Plan, Expo City Dubai plays a vital role in advancing the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to double the emirate's economy by 2033. One of the key drivers of this growth is the accelerated development of the Dubai South area, as Dubai continues to solidify its position as a leading global hub for trade, investment, business, and tourism.
The new master plan positions Expo City Dubai as a central element in driving Dubai’s economic ambitions across key sectors such as trade and logistics, technology and innovation, tourism, business, and events.
